Rehabilitation Technology Associates, Inc. was founded in the fall of 1994 and positioned as a consulting firm for state vocational rehabilitation agencies, providing expert advice and direction to consumers who inquire on and request adapted vehicle modifications. 

Through case management, Retech consultants typically guide consumers in Ohio, Indiana and New York, through the appropriate evaluation and driver training. Services include advice regarding vehicles that meet specific state guidelines for modification and vehicle safety standards from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Case management is available to consumers in the states of Ohio, Indiana and New York.  

Rehabilitation Driving

Serving Columbia County and surrounding areas of New York State since 1994, Retech is one of few driving schools that offer adapted evaluation and training for individuals with disabilities. Jurgen Babirad, CDRS, is the principal Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist. Through Jurgen, Retech provides rehabilitation driving services using two specially adapted vehicles.

These services are available at the company site in Valatie, NY (Northern Columbia County) or initiated from the consumer's home.

Jurgen Babirad CDRS, ATP

Jurgen attended college at SUNY Fredonia and obtained his master's degree at Notre Dame University. As a member of the Association of Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED) since 1981, he has presided as president and presently serves on the certification committee. He has been working in the adapted driving field since 1981 and has managed driving rehabilitation programs in New York, Indiana and Ohio. Jurgen has served as committee member and chairman of state vehicle modification advisory boards for Indiana, Ohio and New York. He provides expert advice and driver rehabilitation services with a extensive history of expertise.  

Gail Babirad CDI

Following graduation from SUNY Fredonia Gail worked in various fields including the Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation unit at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, OH. Gail began working with new drivers in 2003 under supervision of Retech's staff CDI, and earned her own NYS DMV Certified Driving Instructor credentials in 2006. She is also a member of ADED and has served as President of the ADED Northeast Chapter for three years, and Vice President for two years. She has been on the board of NETSEA -- the New England Traffic Safety Educators Association for three years, and has coordinated fall conferences for ADED Northeast with NETSEA for six years. She enjoys working with new drivers, especially helping people become safe drivers and obtaining driving licenses.
